Shelter House Sliding Door

The large, 8'x10' steel sliding door was designed as a "sliding wall." When the door is opened it slides into a steel-wrapped fireplace volume and allows a strong connection between two adjoining rooms. The door was fabricated and detailed by Quartertwenty, of Portland, Oregon. Primary materials include a steel frame, cold-rolled steel plates, and brass inlays. The handle is a simple slot recessed into the door and formed by welding a steel bar to the plate. The radius of the bar provides a comfortable grip to slide the 650-pound door.
